Priorities and reductions
Depending on your situation, you may be given priority in queues and special fares on SNCF Voyageurs journeys.
These fares vary according to the details on your French disability card or mobility and inclusion card.
Please note that foreign disability cards are not accepted in France and do not entitle you to the disabled guide fare on our trains.
Priorities
Your priority access
You have priority access to queues and seats if you hold :
- an 80% or more disability card ;
- a "mobility and inclusion disability" card; or
- a "mobility and inclusion priority" card; or
- a card marked "station debout pénible" or "priorité pour personne handicapée" ("priority for the disabled");
- a family priority card.
Both at stations and on board our trains, don't hesitate to inform other passengers of your status so that you can benefit from this priority.
Priority seats and guide/assistance dog seats
Are you a person with a disability or reduced mobility looking for a comfortable seat adapted to your specific needs or those of your guide or assistance dog?
There are priority seats for you on TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS trains with compulsory booking. These seats are subject to availability.
Discounts
The discounts applied to your journey are subject to change depending on your journeys. See the paragraphs below for the applicable discounts.
In France, on TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS trains
Disabled people do not benefit from any special discounts because of their disability.
It is their accompanying guide who can benefit from a special fare. To do so, the disabled person must have a French inclusion mobility card (CMI) or a French disability card.
Specific GUIDE fares exist and depend on what is written on the disabled person's French-recognised "mobilité inclusion" card.
Thus, the accompanying guide can benefit from a 50% reduction on the Full Leisure Fare if :
- The "mobilité inclusion invalidité" card does not have a mention.
- The 80% or more disability card is not endorsed or includes the words "canne blanche" ("white cane").
If the "mobilité inclusion invalidité" card or the invalidity card is endorsed with one of the following words, the guide will travel free of charge (with the exception of a booking fee of €3 or €10 depending on the period of travel):
- "Needs assistance" or "Blindness needs assistance";
- "Third person", "blindness" and/or "green star".
Guide fares do not apply to journeys made abroad, as the status of guide is linked to French proof of disability and French agreed fares.
On TGV INOUI trains and subject to availability, passengers in wheelchairs are systematically placed in First Class in specially adapted areas while benefiting from a Second Class fare. This provision also applies to the GUIDE accompanying the wheelchair passenger.
The other accompanying persons, up to a maximum of 3 people, can benefit from the "ACCOMPAGNANT UFR" offer, which allows them to travel in First class in the same carriage as the person in the wheelchair, with a 30% reduction on the price of the LOISIR First class fare.
Note that you can take advantage of this offer even if the disabled person you are accompanying uses a wheelchair only occasionally (ill, injured, temporarily unable to walk, etc.) and does not hold a disability card or mobility and inclusion card recognised in France.
On daytime INTERCITÉS trains, accompanying persons benefit from a 30% reduction on the Standard 2nd class fare, as the wheelchair user is placed in Second class.
All accompanying persons and the disabled person must book their seats at the same time and travel together on the same journey.
To benefit from our discount, you must have a card reserved for people who have been discharged from the army or who are war pensioners. How do I apply for this card? Find out more from the Departmental Offices for Veterans and Victims of War.
Reductions vary according to your situation:
- Invalidity card with one red bar corresponding to a degree of invalidity equal to or greater than 50%: 75% reduction for the cardholder.
- Invalidity card with two red bars corresponding to a degree of invalidity of more than 85%: cardholder and guide receive a 75% discount.
- Invalidity card with one blue bar corresponding to a degree of invalidity of between 25% and 45%: 50% discount for the cardholder.
- Invalidity card with two blue bars corresponding to a degree of invalidity of 100%: 75% discount for the cardholder and free travel for the guide (with the exception of booking fees).
Good to know
For these various reductions, please note that :
- Your companion cannot benefit from a reduction if you have a Mobility Inclusion Priority card or an old priority card: "disabled person priority" card or "awkward standing" card.
- Your companion must be at least 12 years old.
- Two people holding a disability card may not accompany each other.

In addition to national reductions, some regions offer assistance to make travelling easier. To find out more, contact the Accès Plus department in your region.

Do you have a disability or reduced mobility and want to travel in Île-de-France? Benefit from reductions or even free travel, depending on your situation, for yourself and any accompanying person.
In Europe
Whether partners or subsidiaries of our Group, European carriers offer prices to suit everyone's situation.
So don't forget to find out which offers apply to your situation.
Guide and assistance dogs, our conditions for free travel
Are you travelling with a service animal? With its papers, your dog can accompany you on board free of charge and without a ticket on all our trains.
For international journeys, please contact the companies concerned directly.
Lastly, in accordance with the law of 11 February 2005, you are not obliged to muzzle your guide or assistance dog if you have documents proving its training.
Special features on sleeper trains
- To make it easier for you to settle into your berth, remember to specify when booking that you want a lower berth close to the car entrance.
- To date, night trains do not offer a good level of accessibility and are not recommended for passengers in wheelchairs.
- If you are travelling with your guide or assistance dog, make sure you follow certain rules for the hygiene and comfort of everyone:
- In couchettes, you may only travel with your guide or assistance dog with the agreement of the other passengers.
- Do your compartment neighbours refuse to allow your guide or assistance dog? The staff accompanying you will do their utmost to find a satisfactory solution.
