    Tailor-made rates

    • Your pet travels in a container

      It travels in a closed bag or basket (45 cm x 30 cm x 25 cm maximum), placed on your lap or at your feet, and costs €10¹ to transport.

    • Your dog travels on a lead

      He must be muzzled throughout the journey and transport also costs €10¹. It travels at your feet.

    • Guide or assistance dog

      Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel free of charge and without a ticket on all our trains.

    A few rules to bear in mind

    • Your responsibility

    Your pet is accompanied and remains your responsibility throughout the journey.You travel with all the documents required for identification.

    • Tacit agreement

    Dogs (except guide dogs and assistance dogs), cats and other pets (hamsters, guinea pigs, etc.) are admitted provided they have the agreement of the other passengers.

    • On coaches

    Only guide dogs or assistance dogs are allowed on board replacement coaches. No other animals will be allowed.

    Details

    • Make sure it is well ventilated and that your pet has enough room to turn around.
    • Ask your vet for a suitable sedative if your pet is fearful.
    • Write his details inside the container (pet's name, tattoo number, your name, telephone number and destination address).
    • Make sure the container is securely closed (your pet must not be able to get out on its own).

    Here is a list of the conditions under which animal fares apply on regional trains.

    • Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
      • Single fare: €5 fixed price
    • Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
      • Single fare depending on distance travelled:
        • Up to 35 km: €2.5
        • 36 to 109 km: €5.5
        • 110 km and over: €7.5
    • Bretagne
      • Flat rate: €7
    • Centre-Val de Loire
      • Small pets (-6kg) on a lead: €7 flat rate
      • Dog on lead (+6kg): 50% of normal rate
    • Grand-Est
      • Single fare according to distance travelled :
        • 50% of the full fare
        • Capped at €7
    • Hauts-de-France
      • Small animals (-6kg) in containers: 1 container per customer free of charge, on presentation of a €0 transport ticket
      • Dog on lead (+6kg): 50% of the normal fare, capped at €7
    • Normandie
      • Flat-rate fare of €3.5 for all animals, regardless of size, on every train used.
    • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
      • Single fare according to distance travelled:
        • Up to 43 km: €2
        • 44 to 80 km: €4
        • 81 km and over: €7
    • Occitanie
      • Small animals (-6kg) on a container: €7 flat rate
      • Dog on lead (+6kg): 50% of normal rate
    • Pays-de-la-Loire region
      • Small animals (-6kg) in a container: Free regardless of the number of containers.
      • Dog on lead (+6kg): 50% of the normal rate
    • Sud
      • Single rate: €5 flat rate

    These conditions apply to journeys without a connection OR a connection with a TGV INOUI or INTERCITÉS train.

    On INTERCITÉS night trains, pets are allowed in the car seats for €19 per pet.

    However, they are not allowed in sleeper compartments, except if you have a reservation in an entire compartment called "espace privatif" (in this case, the pet fare is €0).

    Your documents not to forget

    When travelling abroad with your dog or cat2, make sure your pet can accompany you.

    In some countries, your pet must

    • be identified by a microchip ;
    • be vaccinated against rabies
    • have a European passport supplied and completed by a vet;
    • have an up-to-date health record.

    And in Europe?

    Some European countries have a different policy: find out more before you leave.

    In all cases:

    • Your pet must have been identified in accordance with European standard EC Reg. No. 998/2003 and you must carry a vaccination certificate.
    • Small pets must travel in a container no larger than 45 x 30 x 25 cm. They must not weigh more than 10 kg.
    • Dogs on leads must be muzzled.
    • Only one animal is permitted per passenger.

    Prices vary from country to country.

    For travel to Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain and Belgium (Brussels):

    • You must pay €10 for a small pet travelling in a container.
    • You must pay €20 for a dog on a lead.

    For TGV INOUI to Luxembourg and TGV INOUI to Freiburg im Breisgau, a single fare applies, regardless of the animal: €10.

    1/ Fares applicable from 02/01/2026 to a dog on a lead or an animal in a container for each journey made on a TGV INOUI or INTERCITÉS daytime train on a national route.

    • For journeys on night-time INTERCITÉS trains, the fare is €19 for seats, forbidden in couchettes and free in private areas (since 10/01/2024).
    • For travel on regional lines, please refer to the section entitled Details / If you are travelling with your pet on a regional train, which gives details of fares.
