    To remember

You simply need to be able to carry all your luggage yourself in one go.

    Travel with suitcases

You can take up to 2 items of baggage per person, labelled to a maximum size of 70 x 90 x 50 cm (suitcase, large rucksack, hiking bag, sports bag) and 1 item of hand baggage labelled to a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (rucksack, shopping bag, laptop bag).

    Travel with special luggage

You can take with you, per person, up to 1 item of baggage labelled to a maximum size of 70 x 90 x 50 cm (suitcase, large rucksack, hiking bag, sports bag), 1 item of special baggage labelled to a maximum size of 90 x 130 x 50cm (pushchair, folded scooter, musical instrument in labelled case, pair of skis in labelled cover, waterboard or snowboard in labelled cover, folding wheelchair) and 1 item of hand luggage labelled to a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (rucksack, shopping bag, computer bag).

    Details on special baggage

You can take your pushchair with you, as long as it is folded (maximum 90 x 130 x 50 cm when folded).

For safety reasons, the pushchair must be stored in a baggage area and not left on the platforms or in the passageway.

You can take your scooter with you, electric or otherwise, as long as it is folded (90 x 130 x 50 cm maximum when folded). The use of a carrying case is recommended.

To ensure the safety of passengers and our staff, folded scooters must be carefully stored in the baggage compartments. They must never be placed in the baggage areas above the seats.

It is forbidden to recharge the batteries of motorised electric mobility devices (scooters, etc.).

You can take your own pair of skis with you, as long as they are carried in a specially labelled bag.

There is no size limit for skis, however, each traveller may only travel with one pair.

You can take your wakeboard or snowboard with you, as long as it's carried in a specially labelled bag measuring no more than 90 x 130 x 50 cm.

You can take your musical instrument with you, as long as it is carried in a specially labelled case (preferably rigid) measuring no more than 90 x 130 x 50 cm.

The equipment used by the disabled person during the journey is not considered as luggage.

However, any additional equipment used by the disabled person (crutches or walking stick or walker or oxygen tank or folded wheelchair, etc.) is considered to be baggage and must measure a maximum of 90 x 130 x 50 cm.

However, there is an exception for wheelchairs on Night INTERCITÉS trains. On these trains, the aisles and platforms are too narrow to allow wheelchairs to move around or to store an unfolded wheelchair.

For more details, see the PRM equipment and baggage page.

    Travel with your bike

You must reserve a space for your bike when you buy your train ticket.

    • The cost is €10 per bike per journey on daytime INTERCITÉS services (Paris-Limoges-Toulouse, Paris-Clermont-Ferrand, Bordeaux-Marseille) or on night-time INTERCITÉS services (Paris-Briançon, Paris-Nice, Paris-Cerbère, Paris-Toulouse-Matabiau, Paris-Tarbes).
    • On the Toulouse-Hendaye, Nantes-Lyon, Nantes-Bordeaux and Nancy-Lyon INTERCITÉS lines, the cost is €5 per bike per journey.
    • On the INTERCITÉS Clermont-Béziers line, bicycles can be carried free of charge without reservation.

If you are travelling with an unmounted, unfolded bicycle, you may take up to 1 item of labelled luggage per person, measuring no more than 70 x 90 x 50 cm (suitcase, large rucksack, hiking bag, sports bag), 1 labelled double bicycle bag and 1 item of labelled hand luggage measuring no more than 40 x 30 x 15 cm (rucksack, shopping bag, computer bag).

If you are travelling with a folded or dismantled bicycle in a bag, you can take up to 1 folded or dismantled bicycle per person in a labelled bag measuring a maximum of 90 x 130 cm, 1 labelled double bicycle bag and 1 labelled piece of hand luggage measuring a maximum of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (rucksack, shopping bag, computer bag). Not all bicycles are accepted on INTERCITÉS trains.

Not all bicycles are accepted on INTERCITÉS trains: recumbents, tricycles, tandems, cargo bikes, longtails and trailers are not permitted.

To reserve or not to reserve?

Reserving a seat for an unmounted bicycle is compulsory on all INTERCITÉS trains (except the Clermont-Béziers line). If your search does not produce any results when you make your reservation, this means that there are no more places available for your bike. Folded or dismantled, stored in a cover (maximum 130 x 90 cm), it does not need a reserved space.

Failure to comply with the baggage policy on board INTERCITÉS trains may result in the payment of a minimum of €50 per item of non-compliant or excess baggage (maximum €150).

    Luggage storage

    • Your cabin baggage or other small bags: place them at your feet, under your seat or on top of your seat.
    • Your other luggage: leave it at the entrance or in the centre of your car, as well as in the free spaces on the floor between certain seats arranged back to back.

    Luggage, yes! Bulky items, no!

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of all passengers (particularly in the event of fire, evacuation, on-board medical care, etc.), please do not obstruct the corridors and access doors of trains with your baggage and personal belongings.

    Responsible travel

If you obstruct traffic in the corridors or improperly occupy a seat or luggage space, you could be fined €150.

Is there any unauthorised baggage on board?

Baggage is not permitted on board:

    • Does not comply with the rules detailed above;

      • Intended for trade: products whose quantity and/or packaging unequivocally demonstrate that the passenger transport ticket is being diverted for the purpose of transporting goods that should have been the subject of a service provided by an operator specialising in this field.
