    million hours of work in our industrial technical centres

    A mid-life renovation project

    After twenty years of service, the trains undergo a so-called "mid-life" operation to be dismantled, renovated and modernised.
    The aim is to be able to operate them again for another twenty years, with a virtually new state of repair and the same level of comfort and reliability.

    The aim is to improve the energy consumption of the renovated trains, with a view to protecting the environment and ensuring the durability of the equipment.

    Up to 55 trainsets are immobilised simultaneously in our industrial technical centres during mid-life refurbishment operations.

    In addition to these refurbishments, the Regions can take advantage of the opportunity to request other adjustments to their trains:

    • improving aesthetics and passenger comfort (changing seats, lights, regulating air conditioning, adding waste sorting bins, etc.);
    • the reorganisation of interior spaces to allow more space to be taken on board or improved accessibility (disabled access areas, areas dedicated to transporting bicycles, etc.);
    • installing electrical sockets on seats, Wi-Fi, or integrating an on-board passenger information system.
